Premium Dry Kokum (Amsul) is made from carefully selected kokum fruit that is naturally sun-dried to preserve its rich color, tangy flavor, and natural aroma. Widely used in Maharashtrian, Goan, and Konkani cuisine, kokum adds a refreshing sour taste to curries, dals, and beverages.
Kokum is hygienically processed and naturally dried, with no artificial additives, making it a great ingredient for traditional dishes such as solkadhi, seafood curries, and vegetable gravies. It is also known for its cooling properties and digestive benefits.
For Curries & Gravies:
- Soak 2–3 kokum pieces in warm water for 5–10 minutes.
- Add the kokum along with the soaked water to curries or dals for a tangy flavor.
For Solkadhi:
- Soak kokum in warm water until the water turns pink.
- Mix the extract with coconut milk, garlic, and spices to prepare refreshing solkadhi.
For Beverages:
- Kokum extract can be mixed with water, sugar, and spices to make a refreshing kokum drink.
- As Tamarind Substitute:
- Use kokum instead of tamarind to add natural sourness to soups, dals, and seafood recipes.
