Broad Beans, also known as Chikkidi, are a type of beans inside green-color pods similar to Cluster Beans. The pods can reach approximately 20cm in length and have thick kidney or oval-shaped bean insides that have various shades of green. Depending upon the variety & ripeness, the beans could have a brownish or beige hue to them as well. When it comes to the taste, broad beans are nutty, mild, and slightly starchy in texture when uncooked.

Generally, Broad Beans are good for consumption within two to three days upon arrival. It is best to use them as it arrives. If you are planning to use them later, store them in a refrigerator packed in an airtight container. Do not wash them as it may spoil them due to excessive moisture.
