Ridge Gourd, also known as Turai, Chinese Okra, or Luffa, is a vegetable that has distinctive ridges running across the length located at equal distances radically. They are typically 6 to 12" in length and clad in a green to dark green color depending upon the ripeness levels. Ridge gourds are mild and slightly sweet in flavor with a tender and crisp texture. There are a few varieties of ridge gourd based on where it is grown and with slight variations.

Ridge gourd carries a shelf life of between 2 to 3 days upon arrival. You must store the gourds in a refrigerator packed in a plastic bag or an airtight container. This helps the gourd stay fresh and prevents moisture from escaping. Also, avoid washing them before storing them as it can cause spoilage.
