Unkown
Majoon is a thick, nutrient-dense Persian "power shake" that has become a global favorite for its incredible texture and natural sweetness. Often enjoyed as a post-workout recovery drink or a filling breakfast, this blend combines the caramel-like richness of Kimia dates with the creaminess of frozen bananas and the crunch of walnuts. It is a wholesome, high-energy alternative to processed milkshakes, providing a perfect balance of healthy fats, fiber, and protein.
- 5 to 7 whole Kimia dates
- 1 large frozen banana, sliced
- 1 cup milk (or oat milk for a creamy plant-based version)
- 1/4 cup walnuts
- 1 tablespoon shredded coconut
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds (for garnish)
- Pit the Dates: Use a small knife to make a shallow slit in each Kimia date and remove the hard pit by hand.
- Prepare the Base: Place the pitted dates and the frozen banana slices into a high-speed blender.
- Add the Texture: Add the walnuts, shredded coconut, and cinnamon to the blender.
- Blend: Pour in the milk or oat milk. Blend on high speed until the mixture is thick, smooth, and creamy. If you prefer a thinner consistency, add a splash more milk.
- Garnish and Serve: Pour the Majoon into a tall glass. Top with a sprinkle of toasted sesame seeds and an extra pinch of cinnamon for aroma. Serve immediately while cold.
- Extra Protein: Add a tablespoon of almond butter or a scoop of vanilla protein powder for an even more filling meal replacement.
- Sweetness Level: Kimia dates are naturally very sweet, but if you want an extra treat, you can add a small drizzle of honey or a single dried fig to the blend.
- Nut-Free Version: Replace walnuts with toasted sunflower seeds or pumpkin seeds for a similar nutty flavor without the allergens.
- High Fiber Content: Dates are packed with dietary fiber, which supports healthy digestion, prevents constipation, and promotes overall gut health.
- Natural Energy Source: Rich in natural sugars like glucose and fructose, dates provide a sustained energy boost, making them an ideal pre- or post-workout snack.
- Heart-Healthy Potassium: Dates are an excellent source of potassium, a mineral that is vital for regulating blood pressure and supporting cardiovascular function.
- Antioxidant-Rich: They contain potent antioxidants, including flavonoids and phenolic acid, which help reduce inflammation and protect the body from oxidative stress.
