Description

Litchi (or Lychee) is a tropical and seasonal fruit with a thin red to brown colored skin. A sugary bliss, Litchi has a translucent, sweet, aromatic, and juicy flesh with a gelatinous consistency. The pearly white flesh covers a pit inside which is inedible. Litchi shares some resemblance to Longan as they belong to the same botanical family but exhibit distinct characteristics.

Shelf Life and Storage

Litchi (or Lychee) is a highly perishable fruit and thus, best eaten fresh just as it arrives. It has a shelf life of between 2 to 3 days. Store it in the refrigerator in a perforated plastic bag to keep it cool and fresh for longer. Don't store them with other fruits as it may contribute to quickening in ripening. Rinse them thoroughly and remove the skin before consuming them.
